Over the last few years Spotify has become a very popular and well known place for people to listen to their favorite artists. However, they have been losing at least 1 billion dollars the past few years. This amount of money lost would hurt any company, however Spotify has to also pay back major labels who let them have their music on their app. However, Spotify has released new programming that you can upload podcasts, which will hopefully have a positive benefit on the app. The benefits to having podcasts on Spotify is that listeners can play it and subscribe to Spotify, however whenever someone plays it Spotify does not have to pay money to a record label. This creates a flow of revenue that would not have to be shared or given back to record companies. Hopefully, this will decrease the billion dollar deficit Spotify has endured the past few years.
