Rose Spuhler- Editing Photos- Class #1- Photo- Module 2

An article I read on Flipboard titled “Five Unconventional Landscape Photography Techniques” to learn more about landscape pictures. These type of pictures are defiantly my favorite to take and I enjoy them the most. This article taught me that when taking a landscape photo the main thing I should focus on is capturing detail. The article talks about focusing on color, shape, and balance for the best landscape pictures. It talks about getting out of your normal, comfort zone of taking pictures and trying new things. These new things can include something like trying a new lens. Overall, I learned that when taking landscape photos we have to focus on detail and colors and that it is a good idea to change up our normal routines sometimes.

During this module, I learned how to edit photos and play around with them so that they look more colorful, clearer, and just overall better. I learned that although some filters may look pretty and appealing at first, this may not always be the case. Some filters are more pint toned, while others have a yellow tone. Some filters are black and white, and vary in the contrast and how deep the colors are. All of this can have an impact on if the picture comes out looking good or looking too fake and over filtered.

The app I used for this assignment to edit my pictures is called “PS Express”. This made made it extremely easy to create the pictures I wanted and imagined in my head. The app gave me options to choose from, which I will show in my screen recording on Thursday, to change the colors and saturation in my pictures. They had a range of options to choose from for specific pictures, for example there is a “Portrait” folder to choose from which has filters specifically for portraits.

The editing made the greenery much brighter and more appealing to the eye. The colors are more vibrant and everything looks much more likely. Even the brown color is brighter. This causes everything to look clearer since everything is so bright and vibrant. Editing can take a dull picture, and add life to it through colors and making it appear as much clearer.

Again, the colors become much more vibrant. The regular colored clouds in the first picture turn into bright, orange and yellow tinted clouds once they are edited. Those colors are reflected in the water. Again, this makes it looks much more vibrant and clearer. It adds life to a picture. Once edited, it looks as if the sun if shining through the clouds.
