For Module 1, I read “What Does a Successful Takeover Look Like?” by Will Schmidt. This article discusses what it takes to make my social media account takeover a success. I focused on the Twitter part of the article since I will be taking over the classes twitter account. This part of the article discussed how the actress Retta took over the Los Angeles Kings NHL teams twitter to live tweet a game. She made it known she knew nothing about hockey and “would tweet about the cute boys on the sideline”. However, she still made it a success. How could she make something so great, knowing nothing about the sport? She made it interesting and got people excited. She posted on her own accounts that she would be taking over their twitter for the game. Also, she’s hilarious! She draws people in with her humor and makes them want to keep watching her tweets! The LA Kings knew it would be a success because she’s so captivating. This taught me that it’s not all about the content you post and how educational it is, its about grabbing peoples attention and making them want to keep reading and keep up to date with what I’m posting. It forces you to create a personality online rather than just make tweets with facts, but nothing else behind it.

I also read another article, “A Scientific Guide to Posting Tweets, Facebook Posts, Emails, and Blog Posts at the Best Time” by Belle Beth Cooper. This article wrote about what times will get the most interactions and likes on your posts. Again, I focused on the Twitter part of this article. Research has been done to test the best times, however it varies a lot. One study from the article states “Twitter engagement is 17% higher on weekends” and on Wednesday’s. The next study states that “weekdays provide 14% more engagement than weekends”. So it really depends on your own followers and your research. For time, it seems to be best to tweet later on in the afternoon, around 3-5 pm. Below is a graph of the interaction based on time of day.

I also took the Hootsuite social media course and completed that and got a certification! I learned the benefits of using Hootsuite and how it can make managing social media easier. There were quizzes at the end of every chapter to ensure I learned everything I needed to in that chapter. Below are some screenshot of the course!
Below is my first post onto the Oz Health Tech twitter page. I introduced myself and said that I will be discussing ways to lower stress in your life.
