For Module 2 of the social media account takeover, I had to follow a couple guides about social media, read an article, as well as do my own posts onto the class twitter account.
The first guide I had to follow was “How to Monitor Your Social Media Presence in Less Than a Day”. Thought the guide, they had all the different social media platforms and ways to monitor your usage for the specific app. I focused primarily on the Twitter portion of the guide since I am taking over the class twitter account. The main point of this was to not clutter up your twitter and only tweet relevant info or responding to people commenting on your posts with legitimate, useful information. This helps to keep your twitter page interesting and focused on topics people go there to look for. I found this to be helpful because I choose to post about stress in peoples lives and how to lower it and have conveyed that to my followers, so I will be sure not to post about things that do not obtain to stress to keep my followers interested and coming back for more! Below are screenshots from the guide:
“Bringing the Social Media Revolution to Health Care”. I focused mainly on the article “Social Media for Health Care Makes Sense” because I felt it pertained to my major and field of interest, so it would be good information for me to learn. This part of the guide discusses how beneficial social media and technology is on health. People can now check themselves at home instead of needing a doctor appointment every week, and can even send the information from their technology over to their doctor office making it easy for patients to communicate what is going on and for doctors to check. It also simplifies the work of the doctors and nurses, especially in hospitals where things need to be quick. Doctors can check patients bodies quicker than they could before and even get more detailed screenings. Many people use social media to diagnose themself rather than going to the doctors for a checkup. This can be both beneficial and dangerous. By going to social media and typing in your symptoms, you can find what could potentially be the issue. Then, you should make an appointment and tell your doctor what you have found if it is serious enough for a checkup. The negative to this is that many times we type in our symptoms and find that it could be some terrible disease or a type of cancer, and next thing you know you think you’re dying over a common cold. If technology and social media are used correctly, there can be a huge benefit on the health care system.
The article I read for this project was “Social Media Is Reverting Society From Adults Back Into Children” by Kalev Leetaru. This article discusses how social media is taking us away from out adults duties and making us act more like children. The article says adulthood is about prioritizing, controlling our emotions, making rational decisions, putting work first, and spending time to think about what we want to say before. saying it. Now, because of social media, we do none of these things. We do not prioritize, we get caught up on social media and put that before anything. We do not control our emotions, we put them on social media for everyone who follows us to see. We do not make rational decisions, we allow social media and our followers to do that for us. We do not put work first, many times we get caught up on social media for hours when it was only supposed to be minutes. Also, we do not think before speaking, we post whatever is on our minds to our social media pages. Below is a screenshot from the article about what we do as adults vs what we are supposed to do. link to article

I started off this project on April 23, 2019 with 224 followers and I have reached 225 by Sunday April 28, 2019. As of today, I have posted an introduction tweet, three of my own tweets about stress, and one retweet. I’ve enjoyed posting and informing the followers of the page about stress and ways to reduce it, especially with finals week coming up!

I used canva to create an attractive post for the viewers. I am planning on tweeting this on the last day, for a closing little quote about stress. Canva made a post for me that isn’t just a tweet with a picture attached, but instead a poster or flyer. Also what I found great about canva was that you could tweet your creation right from the page! Below is the poster I am tweeting on my last day.

Another tool I used during this project was “Commun.it”. This is a program that schedules your tweeting patterns for you and tells you when to post. This is great for someone who is very busy running a company because Commun.it reminds you to post, and if the tweet is already there it will post it for you!
